I usually wait for December but I might rush it and watch in November instead. We split it into 40-60 minutes episodes and watch it over weeks.

Wait, how do you pronounce LOTR?

bizzle@lemmy.world on 02 Oct 17:14 next collapse

Low-ter

acockworkorange@mander.xyz on 02 Oct 17:16 next collapse

Me too. So it should be A LOTR marathon, not AN.

BurntWits@sh.itjust.works on 03 Oct 00:25 collapse

“An” makes sense if you’re pronouncing it as an initialism (“el oh tee are”) which is probably how most people pronounce it.

acockworkorange@mander.xyz on 03 Oct 01:14 collapse

TIL most people pronounce LOTR wrong.

Yeah, I can barely wait for christmas. I do the marathon every year on the 25., Star Wars (OT) on 26.

workerONE@lemmy.world on 02 Oct 20:09 next collapse

Don’t cheat yourself, go for the extended versions

Pringles@sopuli.xyz on 02 Oct 22:11 next collapse

My wife suggested it recently, but we watched it already this year so we planned it for the Christmas break, when we always watch it anyway. I wouldn’t mind if we could skip the hobbit trilogy, but she likes it, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ .

Zedd_Prophecy@lemmy.world on 02 Oct 23:07 next collapse

The wife and I are planning thanksgiving this year around the marathon and the food is all themed. No turkey … Thanksgiving of the rings. I’m so ready.

BilSabab@lemmy.world on 03 Oct 11:21 collapse

My wife thought it was a good idea to watch Rings of Power instead that one time. It was funny as shit. We have Lord of the Rings at home.
