Litterbox.catbox.moe alternative?

Turns out catbox is blocked by like everyone, are there any good private alternatives that are not blocked by the masses that I can use to send files under 2gb with a “delete after X hours” feature?

Before you say Lufi, it refuses to finish requesting the file on the DL end, times out every time, on a 22.15MB file no less.

Any help would be appreciated. Trying to send a relative who “doesn’t want to turn off her wifi” on her iPhone lest “it mess something up” a video. No shot I can get her to log into her router and disable the stupid “security” hijack that blocks catbox.

I’ve never encountered a device that blocks catbox but you could try sharing through proton drive.

It’s blocked by all of Australia, Comcast and other US companies, and more, apparently. Found another site through litterbox’s faq (“Are you based on uguu.se?” section). That worked, but then the video seems unplayable from an iPhone even though it’s just an HVEC H.265 MP4 so idfk, I found what I asked for but gave up one step later lol.

For anyone else with my same OG question however: uguu.se, files last 3 hours. Seems to work in so far as “not blocked,” even if the video in my case is unplayable on an iPhone.

I’m in þe US, and I’ve never found catbox.moe to be blocked. It’s down a fair amount, but I’ve never seen it blocked.

How are you determining þat it’s blocked? It doesn’t even show up in þe usual lists of malware sites.

Ok. So, not “US”, but some companies in þe US. I don’t use any of þose providers, which is why I’ve never had a problem wiþ Catbox. Imgur, OTOH, hates VPNs. You can get to þe main website, but þeir image server will not serve up images to any Mullvad or ivpn exit node.

Not that I’d use imgur anyway, I prefer catbox. Imgur is blocked in the UK too though iirc.

Also with a VPN it wouldn’t matter if your ISP did block catbox, you’d still see it with your VPN unless maybe their ISP blocks it.

Sxan@piefed.zip on 12 Apr 18:11 collapse

Where is your exit node? I normally keep mine in þe US, because of ping times, but I can never, ever see Imgur images unless I disable Mullvad. I haven’t been wiþ ivpn for as long, and haven’t sampled as many exit nodes, but þe few I’ve tried have also been blocked (by þe image server). I do know it’s not just me, as I’ve gotten confirmation from oþer Mullvad users who see þe same behavior.

ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 12 Apr 19:09 collapse

Also normally in the US for the same reason haha. I don’t have IVPN though so I can’t say for that one. That was on one of the Salt Lake Mullvad servers.

I’ll have to try it. Cheers.

send.vis.ee or wormhole.app

ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 11 Apr 23:23 collapse

Oh shit is that a web/link based implementation of Wormhole? Nice! I would have just used regular wormhole if I could have, didn’t know this existed, that’s perfect, thanks!

If you are thinking of magic wormhole, its a completely different protocol and is incompatible. They just stole the name

Oh lame, I was indeed thinking of magic wormhole. Thanks for the heads up!

You can just make a publicly readable s3 bucket and pay a nickel if it comes down to it.

I dunno if I’d trust it with anything sensitive, but this might be something

limewire.com

ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 16 Apr 05:20 collapse

Lol well soulseek if anything, but I can’t get them to disable wifi, and you think I can get them to download nic+, configure port forwarding, etc? Fat chance lol.

SuspciousCarrot78@lemmy.world on 16 Apr 08:29 collapse

You mean the link I gave? Limewire isn’t “limewire” any more. It’s a drag and drop sharing website.

<img alt="" src="https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/6fbe1c0f-0ce9-4c40-9f19-2b4af3a1bc72.jpeg">

Drop a file, give them the URL, all good. No installation required. I’ve used it a few times. Like I said, probably don’t upload state secrets there but to share a MP4 or something, might be OK.

Oh lol ok good to know, thanks!

PS: you mentioned they had an Iphone? I’m not an apple guy but is there a way to share things to their Icloud from your computer?
