Private image browsing apps?

I use X, Instagram, and Pinterest for thirst content. Sadly, the former two are unsafe (unsure about Pinterest but it is American and not FOSS so I’d assume the same).

I’d really like to shift off these platforms, but I’m having trouble finding anything with a reliable search and algo that isn’t a dry well.

There is nitter.net for twitter, but I dont have any other alternatives.

Remember that you can just not using them ;)

imginn.com - for content from Instagram. Won’t let you view private accounts obviously, but current for non-private accounts.

xcancel.com - (a Nitter instance) for content from Twitter. Same deal, can’t view private accounts, but anything else goes.

coomer.st - for OnlyFans/Fansly content.

kemono.cr - for Patreon/Pixiv/Discord/etc content.

github.com/Emy69/CoomerDL - bulk downloader for Coomer/Kemono and others

Not sure for Pinterest.

Anyway, just because they’re “private” in the sense that you’re not using any of the major corporations servers, they’re not private in the sense that the admins of these sites won’t see your IP. Still consider using a VPN while using these for more actual privacy.

Is having an algo off the table? Xcancel doesn’t give you a feed, just searches. coomer mostly has women on it, do you happen to know of any focused on men?

thanks anyways, though. appreciate it.

I was a bit confused as to what you meant; image browsing apps to me are things like EOG/Loupe, Gwenview, or whatever Apple/Microsoft use for that now. So you’re looking for a social media platform for sharing images, not software for browsing images? What is thirst content?

SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone on 22 Feb 22:35 next collapse

thirst content: content that is very sexual in nature without necessarily becoming straight up nudity or pornography, something platforms like Instagram or Twitch are famous for. For young people being unnecessarily horny is often referred to as being “thirsty.” As in “thirsting” after someone you find attractive.

image browsing apps: Instagram could be described as an “image browsing app,” and as such this user is looking for apps that mirror Instagram/Twitter/Pinterest content without actually having to use those services.

OK, not at all what I expected…

Yeah I meant a social media platform that’s image-based. Things like Pinterest, Instagram, and to some extent X/twitter.

As for thirst content. Well. If you’re not 18+, can’t say.
