Just an FYI, but ErsatzTV is no longer maintained if you use it. (github.com)

Don’t know if anyone uses it, but I use it a LOT. It’s the main way i consume media. It’s no longer maintained as of a month ago. Hopefully someone forks it.

There's nothing stopping you from continuing to do so, it's not like the app is disappearing.

Are you aware of any other options or forks that work with jellyfin? There’s PseudoTV but it only works with Plex libraries.

Tunarr? tunarr.com

I thought there was something else too but I don’t recall it. I see a Claude. MD in the repo which makes me sus but unsure how vibe coded this is or not.

lemmy_get_my_coat@lemmy.world on 21 Mar 11:43 collapse

No idea about recent usages of LLMs but I’ve been using Tunarr for a few years now and its been working fine

roofuskit@lemmy.world on 21 Mar 12:24 next collapse

There’s a PseudoTV plugin for emby which makes compatibility with jellyfin very likely.

osanna@lemmy.vg on 21 Mar 12:45 collapse

there’s Tunarr and DizqueTV. I have not used either, so I don’t know. But I don’t believe Tunarr is as feature rich as Ersatz. The biggest thing stopping me from trying it is the lack of smart collections. I use them a LOT with Ersatz.

jay@mbin.zerojay.com on 21 Mar 13:06 collapse

There's nothing on the same level as Ersatz at this point, but unless a security flaw is found or compatibility with something it needs breaks, I don't see a need to stop using it just because it's no longer maintained, especially if you aren't exposing it to the internet.

jay@mbin.zerojay.com on 21 Mar 13:04 next collapse

Jason's been incredible working on it so diligently over the years.

thenextguy@lemmy.world on 21 Mar 13:24 next collapse

Well, I don’t use it, so it is maintained then.

EncryptKeeper@lemmy.world on 21 Mar 14:31 next collapse

One thing to note is that this is not software you expose publicly at all so it not being maintained isn’t the biggest deal in the world. The main concern will be media plays making changes that break it long term. And if you’re a an Emby/Jellyfin user, those softwares develop at a snails pace so you should be good for awhile.

GreenKnight23@lemmy.world on 21 Mar 17:28 next collapse

can second this.

I use Mango manga reader and have been personally maintaining it for the last two years.

the recent crackdown on manga sites has made it difficult to continue maintaining it though…

DataCrime@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 21 Mar 19:16 collapse

LOL… seriously I was like low key annoyed at JellyFin for… ya’ know, not being Plex for a minute, and then I actually looked at the ShitHub repo… it’s 8 dudes. Egg on muh face 🤯

chamaeleon@fedia.io on 21 Mar 19:56 collapse

There is NostalgiaTV for Android devices for accessing plex as a correction of TV channels (customizable). The developer is very active on his discord responding to bug reports and feature requests. Caveat, not open source, and paid, which may not be everyone's cup of tea.
