Maul wasn’t really Obi-Wan’s arch enemy, it was other way around.

Obi-Wan could care less about Maul, while Maul was obsessed with Obi-Wan

plateee@piefed.social on 20 Jan 15:58 next collapse

Much like the Chicago Cubs and the St Louis Cardinals.

TheRedSpade@lemmy.world on 20 Jan 17:18 next collapse

How can you tell? He had, what, one line?

hemko@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 20 Jan 18:34 collapse

He had a whole ass storyline in clone wars and rebels

Long story short, he was very angry at Obi-Wan for cutting him in half

TheRedSpade@lemmy.world on 20 Jan 18:40 next collapse

Makes sense. I’ve never seen clone wars and haven’t even heard of rebels, so I had no idea he survived

devdoggy@lemmy.world on 20 Jan 19:08 collapse

Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to some Clone Wars followed by Rebels and then Ahsoka…

TheRedSpade@lemmy.world on 20 Jan 22:03 collapse

Might check out clone wars some day. The Disney ones though I’ll likely forget before I get the chance

devdoggy@lemmy.world on 20 Jan 22:40 collapse

Well, I tried. Anyway, Clone Wars is a cartoon about all the things that Lucas didn’t show in the prequels. Rebels is about the beginning of the rebellion. Ahsoka is just the continuation of all that happened in the previous series’.

As far as Ahsoka being Disney produced, it isn’t that bad, and we get Thrawn. Now, if we could get Noghri…

marcos@lemmy.world on 20 Jan 19:10 collapse

he was very angry at Obi-Wan for cutting him in half

No, Maul was angry for Obi-Wan to just assuming he was dead after he was cut in half, and abandoning him there like if he didn’t matter anymore. (The nerve!)

I don’t remember he ever complaining about being cut. That’s just fair-play.

WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world on 20 Jan 20:17 collapse

Maul didn’t meet Obi-Wan until like five minutes before he died.

Quetzalcutlass@lemmy.world on 21 Jan 08:53 collapse

Maul is the Boba Fett of the prequels - immediately jobbed to the heroes in the film, but fans liked him based purely on cool factor so the EU pulled an “only mostly dead” and brought him back. 99% of his character and plot is in supplemental materials like the animated series.

WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world on 21 Jan 09:45 collapse

Interesting that there’s no equivalent for the sequel trilogy. Guess nobody cares about those characters at all.

_Nico198X_@europe.pub on 21 Jan 10:46 collapse

the ST equivalent would be Phasma, i think. D just hasn’t started the ST redemption tour yet.

Quetzalcutlass@lemmy.world on 22 Jan 00:01 collapse

They gave Phasma just enough character development to be hated, so I don’t think that will happen. The other two were blank slates that the audience could imagine doing cool stuff if they’d lived, but Phasma was shown to be a coward and hypocrite long before her death.

I miss it. Used to live within ten minutes of the beach then moved to the center of the country. Yes it gets everywhere, but if you jump in the water real quick. Then it’s only on your feet for the first hundred yards or so. Or bring a bottle of water and rinse your feet as soon as you get off it.

I understand why Anakin hated it. He lacked water!

Really, Darth Maul an arch enemy? Guy was just an inconsequential side character.

_Nico198X_@europe.pub on 21 Jan 10:42 next collapse

in his own mind he was OWK’s arch enemy.

they are the original “i hate you.” “i don’t think about you at all.” 😆

YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today on 22 Jan 01:33 collapse

I love how they expand on him in the clone wars and comics. Dude was pretty bad ass. It’s a shame Spielberg didn’t give him any dialogue in the movie.
