Picard could take Vader easily. One kironide mineral shot would neutralize Vader’s powers. Then Picard’s fencing technique vs Vader’s clumsy robotic slashes would have Picard killing Vader in a fraction of a second.

FordBeeblebrox@lemmy.world on 10 Dec 2025 02:16 collapse

This is not counting the Force though. I’ve always maintained that the films are too PG when it comes to using the power if you had actual telekinesis. Vader choked a guy through a video call, reaching out to pinch a couple blood vessels in Picard’s brain would just drop him instantly.

Blue_Morpho@lemmy.world on 10 Dec 2025 10:54 collapse

It’s why I said kironide mineral shot. That’s from the TOS episode Plato’s Children. One shot and you have more Force power than the greatest Force user.

IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf on 11 May 23:23 collapse

the force cannot be trapped nor leave someone

it is technically the energy flowing through all living things in star wars

Midichlorians are what decide your “power” and midichlorians cannot be modified artificially

5 month old post and someone read it and immediately down voted you? Or maybe lemmy.wotld’s database is broken.

Anyway, the StarWars Universe doesn’t appear to have any science. They have technology and improve their technology but no understanding of the science behind it which would allow for significant improvements. They can take existing technology and make it bigger (Death Star laser) or smaller (xwing hyperdrive). That’s it.

In StarWars, they have had ftl for thousands of years. TNG is 300 years in the future. In StarWars if you get injured, you die or get a replacement robot part by a robot doctor. In Trek, Worf gets his spine crushed and a human doctor creates a real replacement, not a robotic part to heal Worf. In StarWars, Padme dies and the robot says " broken heart" like it’s a medieval level of medical science.

IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf on 13 May 12:24 next collapse

padme dies because she was choked half to death by her own husband (he probably crushed her windpipe with the fist motion at the end when Obi Wan told him to stop, and thats why her voice is so low) and thrown on the scorching hot floor of Mustafar, a Volcanic World and had to push out 2 force sensitive kids after. The Robotic Doctor says “she has lost the will to live” not as a cause of death but as an observation

and in Star Wars, the replacement parts are robotic because its way cheaper and more efficient for the average person to get Metal, which you can find anywhere honestly than recreate human tissue

the Robotic doctors are in place because you dont have to pay them or even feed them, theyre insanely cheap compared to humans

each rebel base had a human medic, but robotic doctors were much easier to maintain

star wars is scifi dystopia star trek is scifi utopia

She was talking to Obiwan afterwards. No crushed wind pipe. No explanation given other than “lost will to live”.

Yes, they use tech because they have no science to develop anything better. Anakin was a Jedi. He was the best of the best of the best on the capital planet of a republic of 1.3 million worlds. Cost was no object and he got a robot hand in Episode 2.

We dont see the science perspectives

We do see a lack of science. Your claims about the force aren’t shown in the movies. We see force powers in Trek and they are investigated and replicated.

IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf on 13 May 14:27 collapse

she was talking but her voice was significantly weaker

Anakin and other warriors get robotic hands because Metal is

  1. cheaper
  2. the jedi order doesnt have infinite money
  3. metal hit harder than hand

and every force sensitive person has this thing called a “force shield” which prevents others from using the force on them. This is why we see no direct force usage force-to-force. When two Force sensitive people fight using the force, they throw around air or objects at the person

ultimately, we are different universes with different rules

Blue_Morpho@lemmy.world on 13 May 14:33 collapse

cheaper

Because they don’t have the medical knowledge.

the jedi order doesnt have infinite money

They have virtually infinite money. They ordered an army of millions of clone troopers based on the word of one Jedi.

metal hit harder than hand

Fans claim Vader is weaker than he could have been because he is mostly robot.

IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf on 13 May 14:34 collapse

  1. metal is just more abundant than human tissue
  2. thats the republic not the order
  3. hand ≠ permanent life support
IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf on 13 May 12:26 collapse

the thing is, we see Star Wars from the POV of regular people and certain important people

We dont see the science perspectives

If I go up to a random US Marine and ask him how an F35 works, he wouldnt be able to answer most of the times
