Little Jedi’s what is on board?

SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world on 02 Apr 00:10 next collapse

Little Jedi is on board.

merc@sh.itjust.works on 02 Apr 02:39 collapse

There’s only one little jedi, and it’s on board.

Every time someone uses an apostrophe to make a word plural, a kitten dies. Please donate the price of a cup of coffee and save a kitten.

finalarbiter@lemmy.dbzer0.com on 02 Apr 01:33 collapse

Maybe there’s just 1 and it’s a contraction:

Little [jedi is] on board

iltoroargento@lemmy.sdf.org on 01 Apr 23:33 next collapse

Jedi is already plural…

SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world on 02 Apr 00:10 next collapse

OK? That’s the possessive form. Or maybe a contraction for “Jedi is.”

Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world on 02 Apr 00:34 collapse

I read it as “Little Jedi is on board”.

And there’s nothing wrong with that sentence. I mean, apart from having children. Last thing this world needs is MORE humans…

Maybe we should flood the zone with nerdlings tho

Jedi is already plural…

It’s a mass or uncountable noun; like happy or e-mail. People who write ‘jedis’ are as embarrassing as people who write ‘emails’.

Beacon@fedia.io on 02 Apr 02:28 collapse

Emails is correct usage in many instances

GraniteM@lemmy.world on 02 Apr 15:42 next collapse

Is email / emails like fish / fishes or grass / grasses?

fireweed@lemmy.world on 02 Apr 16:56 next collapse

The spaces around the slashes prompted me to read your comment like surreal poetry:

is email

emails like fish

fishes or grass

grasses?

Beacon@fedia.io on 02 Apr 17:13 collapse

I don't think so, i think OP os totally wrong, the word "emails" is valid in all cases of multiple emails.

There is also concern about the missing hyphen. You wouldn’t want to confuse e-mail with email.

Is the singular also Jedi, or is there a lesser known Jedo, Jedus or Jedum knocking around that we should be using?

iltoroargento@lemmy.sdf.org on 02 Apr 14:58 collapse

It’s one of those wonderful words which is both singular and plural at the same time:)

fakeman_pretendname@feddit.uk on 02 Apr 15:02 collapse

Ah well, it’s a shame, I was looking forward to pedantically correcting people with “Actually, Jedi is plural - so technically speaking, Luke Skywalker is a Jedus”.
